Below Their Sight is a first person solo exploration narrative game, taking place in a post-apocalyptic city, where an unknown cataclysm remains to be solved : the appearance of gigantic entities in your world.
The goal is simple : you will navigate the streets, observe your surroundings, plan your route accordingly and adapt to any adversity that you might encounter.
Benchmark and Target Audience
I began the project with a benchmark analysis of games sharing similar mechanics, atmosphere, and emotional intentions as our concept. This research helped define our target audience: players seeking emotion-driven gameplay, mystery, tension, solitude, and strong environmental storytelling.
Based on the benchmark findings, I identified recurring player motivations and behaviors, which led to the creation of two core personas: a “detective-driven” player, focused on observation and understanding, and a “flow-driven” player, who prefers to be guided by the experience and atmosphere. These personas highlighted which elements needed to be emphasized—narrative clarity, emotional pacing, and mystery—while informing design priorities during early discussions with the team throughout conception and pre-production.
